Memorial services for Mrs. Garnet Bennette will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 in the chapel of Robert Barham Family Funeral Home who is also in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Bennette, 65, of Meridian, passed away Friday, January 19, 2018 at Andersons Regional Medical Center of Meridian. She was born on May 24, 1952 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
She was the Matriarch of her family and was loved by all, they were her pride and joy; She also enjoyed dining with family and friends. She enjoyed all types of entertainment. She was affectionately known as “Meemaw” by her grandchildren and this was her most cherished title. She was known to be able to play almost any instrument as well as sewing dresses for friends and family, as well as painting, writing, poetry, woodwork, and many many more artistic endeavors. She was a very talented lady who could accomplish anything she could put her mind to.
Mrs. Bennette is survived by her husband of 48 years, George Bennette; children. Donovan Bennette (Kathy), Sheryl Stuart (Aaron), Sheila Reid (Eric), Nancy Brown (Bruce), Will Bennette (Ashlie), and George Bennette III. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers and one sister as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Garnet is preceded in death by her parents Jack and Jo Lucas, and two sisters, Karen Bartee and Joanne Rankin.
The family request that donations be made to the Blair E. Batson Children’s hospital in Jackson, MS or to St. Jude’s Children Hospital in Memphis, TN in lieu of flowers.
