A private celebration of life for Mr. Gary Wayne Easterwood will be held at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home.
Mr. Gary Wayne Easterwood, age 65, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2020 at his home.
Gary was born in Anniston, Alabama on October 3, 1954 to Charles and Effie Easterwood. His family moved to Meridian when Gary was a child. As he got older, he attended Meridian High School. He married Cathy (Neal) Spears in 1972, and they had two children, Amy and Angie.
At an early age, Gary developed a strong ethic by working in his father’s store, Warnock Furniture Company. He later became a talented welder and traveled around the country building skyscrapers, boats, manufacturing plants, etc. He worked many years with Yates Construction and American Tank and Vessel. In his free time, there was nothing he could not build. He built things ranging from utility trailers to go-carts, mini-bikes to race cars, and porches to workshops. He was not afraid to get dirty, and he never said “No” to helping someone in need. He loved spending time and joking around with his family, especially his grandkids. He was a gifted man, a generous father, and a gentle grandfather. He was loved by all.
Gary is survived by his two daughters, Amy Moore and Angie White (Marissa); grandchildren, Keaton Jamieson (fiance’ Rachel Ivey), Lily Kate Jamieson, Christian Moore, and Avery White; sister, Martha Ann Pankowski; brother, Tim Easterwood; and many nieces and nephews and close friends.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Effie Easterwood, and brothers, Donnie Easterwood and Chuck Easterwood.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial contributions to be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
