Gary L. Gibson

Funeral services for Mr. Gary L. Gibson will begin at 11:00 am Friday, August 24, 2018 at Collinsville First Baptist Church with the Reverends Wade Ricks, Dr. David Sellers, and Steve Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Collinsville First Baptist Church Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Gibson, 86, of Collinsville, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Anderson Regional Medical Center of Meridian.

Mr. Gary was an avid athletic fan, playing baseball and basketball. He was inducted into the EMCC Athletics Hall of Fame in 2011 for his baseball and basketball career. He was member of the Collinsville Lion’s Club and Collinsville Community Club; where he was also awarded Man of The Year. He was member of Collinsville First Baptist Church where he also served as a deacon. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and was devoted to his family. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening and spending time outdoors.

Mr. Gibson is survived by his wife of 55 years, June Gibson; son, Dr. Gary Lamar Gibson, II, (Linda); grandchildren, Gary Lamar, III, Jonathan Wayne and Madison Jean Gibson. Sister Yvette Wilkerson; special friend, William Pace, as well as a host of friends and extended family. He also leaves his special four legged children, Big Foot and Lacey.
He is preceded in death by his parents Heber and Clydie Gibson; two sisters, Peggy Covington, and Treajetta Gibson.
Memorials may be made to Russell Christian Academy or to the Collinsville First Baptist Church Building Fund in lieu of flowers.
