Genell Tibbetts

A private service for Mrs. Genell Tibbetts will be held at a later date. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mrs. Tibbetts, 99, of Meridian, died Friday, April 3, 2026, at Poplar Springs Nursing Center of Meridian.

Mrs. Genell was a loving Mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. In her younger years she worked at Burnley Shirt Factory in Meridian. She went on to work in retail sales at McRae’s and until her retirement with Belk Department Store in Meridian. A truly remarkable woman, she carried herself with grace and resilience, trusting in the Lord, and finding joy in the blessings each day He provided. She touched countless lives and leaves behind a legacy that will continue for generations. Her life was a testament to enduring faith.

Mrs. Genell is survived by her children, Charles Tibbetts, Polly Netherland, and Terry Tibbetts (Kathy); Eight Grandchildren, and numerous great and great-great grandchildren; Her sister, Bobbie Morris; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Mrs. Genell is preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Tibbetts, Sr; and her parents, J.P. and Iona “Polly” Mattox; Her siblings, Ben Mattox, Malcolm Mattox, Yvonne Mattox, Ruth Mattox, and Mary Shell.
