George Floyd Reed

April 8, 1935 — September 29, 2019

Memorial services for Mr. George Floyd Reed will begin at 11:00 am Saturday, October 5, 2019 at First Presbyterian Church of Meridian, with The Reverend Dr. Rhett G. Payne, III officiating. Interment will follow in Rural Cemetery in Hornell, NY, Sunday, October 6, 2019. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the local arrangements.

Mr. Reed, 84, of Meridian passed away Sunday, September 29, 2019 at his home.

George was a retired businessman from New York and Virginia having moved to Mississippi to be close to his family. He was a devoted caregiver and husband to his first wife. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading and following the U.S. trade system; he loved history and was a devout fan of President Ronald Regan. He loved the arts, especially movies and music. George was a friend to many. George was a member of First Presbyterian Church.  He met his wife, Mary, in 2015 and the two were married in 2016 and spent the last two and a half years traveling and spending time with family and friends.

George is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Michael George Reed (Stacie), Steve Leroy (Debbie), Terri VanKueren (Mike). Mary’s children, Bill Ford (Christie), Liz Hachmeister (John), Chris Ford, Katherine Moore, Leslie Snowden (Billy), and Alison Young (Richard). Seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Mary’s nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. One sister, Jean Poorman, as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Mr. Reed is preceded in death by his parents, George Nathan and Vilma Reed; first wife, Jacquelyn Marcia Reed; daughter, Jillian Monique Reed.

The family suggest memorials should be made as donations to First Presbyterian Church of Meridian Building Fund in lieu of flowers.

The Reed family will receive friends from 10:00am until service time at the church.
