Georgia W Snowden

Funeral services for Mrs. Georgia W. Snowden will begin at 2:30 pm Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Russell officiating. Interment will follow at Gum Log Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mrs. Snowden , 96, of Obadiah, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at her residence.

She was a founder of the Bailey Fire Department, Center Hill Community Club and Center Hill Homemakers Club. She retired from Civil Services at Meridian Naval Air Station. She was a Member of Oak Hill Baptist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed working in her community and in her yard. She was known for her Christmas collection and especially loved when people would come to tour her home. She was affectionately known as “ MeMe ” by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also especially fond of hummingbirds.

Mrs. Snowden is survived by her daughter, Georgia S. Jackson; Grandchildren, Stacye L . Stevens (Greg) and Ashley J. Withers (Wayne); great grandchildren, Tyler and Madilynn Stevens and Will and Georgia Claire Withers. Brother George V. Wilson and one sister in law Caroline Wilson as well as a host of extended family and friends. The family would also like to express special thanks to caregivers, Janice Goodman, Betty Scaggs , Peggy Bailey, and Mattie Houston.

Mrs. Snowden is preceded in death by her husband, Lamar Snowden ; and brothers Kenneth Wilson, and James W. Wilson.

The family request memorials be made to The Bailey Volunteer Fire Department in lieu of flowers.

Pallbearers will be Greg Stevens, Wayne Withers, Tyler Stevens, Will Withers, Zena Limerick, and Bill Munn .

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until service time at the funeral home.
