Gertrude "Gertie" Banes Services for Gertrude "Gertie" Banes will be held on Monday, November 7, 2011, at 10:00 A.M. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Richie Davis officiating. Burial will be in Meridian Memorial Park Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Banes, 84, of Meridian died Saturday, November 5, 2011, at Rush Hospital. She was an active member of Westwood Baptist Church and The Sonshiners, a senior adults group of the church. She was born in Vienna, Austria. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and Oma. Survivors include daughter, Ann Culpepper, and her husband George of Meridian; grandson Daniel Culpepper and his wife, Emily, of Madison, MS; and grandson David Culpepper and his wife, Carrie, of Shreveport, LA; niece Renate Guttman of Baden, Austria; and nephew Martin Fuchs of Vienna, Austria. She was preceded in death by her husband James R. Banes and parents Josef and Anna Bures. Pallbearers are Wayne Coley, Wayne Gray, Joe Jackson, Andy Jones, Raymond McKinion, and Varnell Warren. The family requests any memorials be made to Westwood Baptist Church. Visitation will be Sunday, November 6, 2011, from 5:00 8:00 P.M. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home.
