Grady Mims Clark, Sr. Funeral service for Grady Mims Clark, Sr. will be held Monday, June 16, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Rhett Payne and Reverend Robert Horel officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Clark, 89, of Lauderdale passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at his home. Mr. Clark attended Mississippi State University and in 1942 pledged SAE Fraternity, but because he was called to duty in 1942 he wasn't initiated until 2001, at the age of 75, with his grandson Brandon Clark at the University of Southern Mississippi. He joined the United States Navy in 1942, and served in the South Pacific in World War II. He served three years aboard The USS Alkes and they didn't touch land for eleven months at one time. Mr. Clark was an Elder in Lauderdale Presbyterian Church and a member and Deacon in First Presbyterian Church in Meridian. He was a cattle farmer and was in the timber business. He received the Outstanding Young Farmer's Award in 1956. Mr. Clark was an avid Nascar, basketball and football fan. Survivors include his wife Margaret Aleene Graeber Clark of Lauderdale; two children, Dr. Grady Mims Clark, Jr. and his wife Wendy Kuykendall of Meridian, Mississippi and Dr. Kevin Grafton Clark and wife Debra Jean Springs of Flowood, Mississippi; three grandchildren, Justin Mims Clark of Raleigh, North Carolina, Brandon Daniel Clark of Ogden, Utah and John Grafton Clark in Seoul, Korea and two great-grandchildren, Marshall Lee Clark and Sydney Mims Clark of Raleigh, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Neva Graeber Clark and his parents John Grady Clark and Lucile Mims Clark. Family and friends may sign the online guest book at robertbarhamffh.com.
