Mr. Gatlin, age 90, of Meridian, passed away October 11 at Rush Hospital.

Pawpaw, as his family lovingly referred to him, was a gentleman who conducted himself as such. A Navy Veteran who fought for his country in World War II, he was a true American in every sense of the word. Grady was a longtime member of Highland Baptist Church. He grew a successful furniture company from humble beginnings thanks to immense talent and hard work, and never took his success for granted. Grady married Margaret Van Norman, the love of his life, and remained happily married for 60 years until her death in 2005. His greatest joy was celebrating the successes of his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his son, Kenneth Steve (Vickie) Gatlin; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Gatlin, of Brookhaven; grandchildren, Angi (Todd) Ware, Morgan Gatlin, Autumn Wedgeworth, and Abby (Justin) Clark, all of Meridian, Kyle (Hailun) Gatlin of Austin, Texas, and Tyler (Amanda) Gatlin of Brookhaven, and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Margaret Van Norman Gatlin; sons, Kerry Reuben Gatlin and Grady Keith Gatlin; and brothers, Lester Gatlin, Claude “Pete” Gatlin, and Morris Gatlin.

The family requests memorials be made to Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children, 2500 North State Street Jackson, MS 39216.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Gatlin, Kyle Gatlin, Keaton Jones, Randy Wedgeworth, Justin Clark, Todd Ware, and Rob Ward.
