Grady Dewey Herrington, Jr. Memorial service for Grady Dewey Herrington, Jr. will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church with Dr. John Temple officiating. Burial will be in the Mississippi State Veterans Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Herrington, 89, of Meridian died Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Infinity Hospice. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a nose gunner on a B24 bomber. Mr. Herrington was employed by Sun Oil Company from 1947 until 1983 and he retired due to health problems. He was a member of Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church, held membership in the MENSA Society and he was a Mason. He graduated from LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He is survived by his wife of sixty-three and a half years, Omega Watkins Herrington; a daughter, Hilda Jeanette Herrington of Jacksonville, Florida and a son, Gary Wayne Herrington and his wife Suzanne of Edmond, Oklahoma; two nephews Aarond and Corbett; four nieces Gayle, Roberta, Talma and Patricia; and also a special cousin, Sam Donald. He was preceded in death by his father, G.D. Herrington, Sr. and his mother Calder; sister, Hazel Jones and her husband Tom; sister, Calder Stout and her husband Talmage; nephew, Oscar Thomas Jones, Jr. and a niece, Dewey Virginia Peel.
