Services celebrating the life of Mr. Greg Daniels will begin at 11:00 AM Friday, September 26, 2025, at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Reverend David Deweese officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Mr. Daniels, 68, of Bailey, died Friday, September 5, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family, following an extended illness.
Gregory “Greg” Francis Daniels was born March 11, 1957, in Brooklyn Borough, Kings County, New York, New York. His father was William “Bill” Edward Daniels of Center Hill, Mississippi. His mother was Dorothy Mae Escudero of Brooklyn New York, New York. He had a younger sister, Darlene Mae Daniels Izzett from West Babylon, Long Island New York. His family moved to West Babylon prior to him going to school.
He graduated from West Babylon with a notation of being the MVP on his hockey team. Greg also had a high aptitude for the arts. He was the recipient of a scholarship in the arts to East Mississippi Community College. Greg specialized in dioramas. His intricate work was admired by many. He went on to major in agriculture. He later transferred to Meridian Community College. During his work study, his diorama work received several awards from the media department for their life-like presentation.
In 1978, after dating for 2 years, Greg married Brenda Wright from Meridian, Mississippi. They married at Saint Patrick Catholic Church; from this union were born two children, Gracie Frances and Andrew Nicholas Daniels. Shortly after they moved to Edwards, Mississippi. He worked for Cal-Maine Foods as a purchasing agent. He also worked for Mississippi State University Agriculture and Foresty Costal Plains Experiment Station Dairy Farm located in Newton, Mississippi. Gregory had various jobs but was often an entrepreneur operating his own businesses of maintenance, and construction.
Gregory and Brenda participated in many philanthropic adventures. Greg was the President of the Meridian Jaycees and was nominated for District President. Both Greg and Brenda became volunteer firefighters for the city of Ridgeland, MS and later joined the Bailey Voluntary Fire Department in Lauderdale County, MS. Together, according to Chief Stanley Lucky, they changed and energized the fire department by educating children in schools and having Open House days; in 1993 the couple divorced.
He married Simon Champagne following their divorce and he met and married Annette Reeves in the year 2000. They had one child, William Gregory Daniels, and stepson, Waylon Reeves. They divorced in 2002.
Greg was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved trains and often included them in his dioramas as a member of the local train club. He was a drummer, having played drums almost all his life at different venues. He loved racing having done it with his father as a child. He raced professionally for Cal-Maine Foods. Gregory often made life-long friends in his many endeavors. He was a practical joker and loved to laugh; His antics and laughter will be what most of us will remember.
Greg is survived by his children, Gracie Thomas (Fiancé Mickey Hall), Andy Daniels, Will Daniels, and Waylon Reeves (Jessie); his grandchildren, Hailey Reeves, Hunter Smith, and Tandem Hall; his nephew, Robert Izzett; the mother of his eldest children, Brenda Wright; as well as a host of extended family members.
Mr. Daniels is preceded in death Bill and Dot Daniels; sister, Darlene Daniels Izzett; and his close friend, Paul Lutz.
The Daniels Family suggests memorials be made as donations to the Bailey Volunteer Fire Department in lieu of flowers.
