Services for Grover Ellis Partridge Sr. will be held Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at Carmel Baptist Church with Reverends Joe Anderson, Roger Ivy, and Derrick Simmons officiating. Burial will be in Meridian Memorial Park Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Partridge, 87, of Enterprise, peacefully passed on Friday afternoon, April 2, 2010 at Poplar Springs Nursing Center. He was born November 14, 1922. He was the eldest son of Andrew and Abbie Partridge of Meridian, MS. He received Christ as his personal savior as a young man. He attended Christian Missionary Alliance Church, State Boulevard Baptist Church, Fellowship Baptist Church in Jasper County, and Carmel Baptist Church in Vimville. He attended Meridian High School and graduated after his return from service duty overseas during WWII. He also graduated from Meridian Junior College. During WWII he served in the 9th Infantry Division of the First Army and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service. He was proud to have served his country during such difficult times. Grove was also a lifetime member of VFW Post #79. He was retired from Flintkote Company, which was later owned by Owens Corning. He and his wife Margaret were co-managers of the Flintkote/Owens Corning Credit Union. Grover and Margaret had a blessed marriage of 68 years. They both joined Carmel Baptist last year as they wanted to be able to worship with members of her family and friends from her childhood. Survivors include two daughters, Winki Allen and her husband Kent, and Susan Boyette and her husband Terry, one son, G.E. "Sonny" Partridge, Jr. and his wife, Betty, seven grandchildren, Wendy Allen Bryant, Patrick Allen and his wife, Stacy, Melinda Boyette Smith and her husband, Andy, Terry Michael Boyette and his wife, Kim, Stephen Partridge , Andrew Partridge, Jennifer Hardesty, and her husband, Chris, and thirteen great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ruth Beeman Partridge, his mother, father and many other loved relatives. The family requests memorials be made to Carmel Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men's Sunday school class of Carmel Baptist Church. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00-8:00p.m. at the Funeral Home and thirty minutes prior to the service Monday.
