Gus Goforth, Jr.

Funeral services for Mr. Gus Goforth, Jr. will begin at 1:00 PM Thursday, January 30, 2025, in the chapel of Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Bro. Michael Oates officiating. Interment will follow graveside rites at Meridian Memorial Park Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Goforth, 88, died just one day prior to his 89th Birthday, at Baptist Anderson Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

He was a long-time employee of EMEPA and served in the local National Guard many years prior. Born in Little Rock, MS, and moved to Meridian as a young man.

He loved to play basketball in high school and even into adulthood with the city leagues. Hobbies he enjoyed earlier in life were being a member of the Dalewood Ski Club and showing horses with the Longhorn Riding Club.

Mr. Gus is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jerrie Espey Goforth; his daughter, Angela Rasto (Andre'), grandchildren, Margo and Noah Rasto, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Mr. Goforth is preceded in death by his son, Dennis Paul Goforth, his parents, Gus, Sr. and Renie Keen Goforth, siblings; Wilford, Wilmer, Willis, and Jerry Goforth, sisters, Marjorie Russell, and Delores Savell.
