Guy C Darnell

Funeral services for Mr. Guy C Darnell will begin at 12:00 pm Saturday, December 29, 2018 at West Kemper Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Darnell, 95, of the Moscow community, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Mr. Guy was first and foremost a follower of Christ, who’s passion was to share the gospel with all he met. He was a lifelong member of West Kemper Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher as well as numerous other capacities. He was a Gideon and member of the Kemper Camp for many years. He was a farmer and logger as well as an avid outdoorsman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the South Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was a faithful supporter of Kemper Academy. He was affectionately known as “Papaw” by his nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and was also a loving father, and friend to many.

Mr. Guy is survived by his sons; David Darnell (Linda), Kim Darnell (Dania), Tim Darnell (Mina); grandchildren, Ellen Baltzell (Chuck), Emily Cade (Thomas), Matthew Darnell, Jodi Darnell, Jonathan Darnell (Tylie), Jacob Darnell, Joanna Darnell, Hannah Darnell, and Rachel Darnell. Great-grandchildren, Brooke Baltzell, Falon Baltzell, Mason Cade, and Logan Cade.

Mr. Darnell is preceded in death by his wife Louise Darnell; Children, Jennifer Darnell and John Mark Darnell; great-grandson, Charlie Baltzell; parents, Matthew and Retha Darnell. Brothers, William Darnell, Jamie Darnell, and Ed Darnell; sisters, Hollis Perkins, Valeria Griffin, and Margie Dees.

The family requests memorials be made to The Gideons International in lieu of flowers.
