Harold "Brother" Bateman

Graveside services for Mr. Bateman will be held Friday, January 26, 2018 at 1:30pm at the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Bateman, age 80, of Marion, passed away January 24, 2018 at Anderson Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Bateman retired after working for over thirty years from Henderson Steel. He was a lifelong member of the VFW. Mr. Bateman was a member of the local Moose Lodge. He was also active in the Phi Delta Kappa fraternity.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Mrs. Carol Bateman; children, Norman (Sherry) Bateman, Lisa Eaves, and Harold “Duke” (Andrea) Bateman, Jr., and Cliff (Sara) Bateman; grandchildren, Bryan (Brooke) Smith, Heather (Chris) Falgout, Jimmy Bateman, Amanda Bateman, Andrew (April) Bateman, Sandra (Adam) Chandler, Shane (Amber) Briggs, Harold “D.J.” Bateman, Stephanie Wells, and Ashely Bateman; fifteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Haskell (Mary) Bateman, Hershell (Geraldine) Bateman, Pat (Jerry) Smith, Mary Faye Wilson, Clay (Nell) Bateman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clay and Ila Bateman.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Bateman, Andrew Bateman, Bryan Smith, LCpl, Harold “D.J.” Bateman, SSGT Shane Briggs, Chris Falgout, and Michael Shelby. Larry Ulmer will be an Honorary Pallbearer.
