Harry H. Hurt Services for Mr. Harry H. Hurt Jr., will be held Monday, January 3, 2011, at Noon at First Presbyterian Church, Meridian, with Dr. Rhett G. Payne III officiating. Interment will be in the Decedar Baptist Church Cemetery in Jasper County with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Hurt, 73, of Meridian, died unexpectedly Friday, December 31, 2010, after a brief illness. Mr. Hurt was retired from Owens Corning. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed Nascar, Alabama football and baking cakes for his many friends and family. He was an active deacon in First Presbyterian Church where he served faithfully for almost 50 years in many church ministries, including the Sunday Morning Javarama Coffee Café and the sanctuary choir. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Faye Weed Hurt of Meridian; son,Harrison Brad Hurt of Meridian; daughter, Belinda Faye Winover of Scottsdale, AZ; mother, Irene Hurt of Saraland, AL; sisters, Harriet Windham and her husband Larry, Rebecca Charles and her husband Richard, all of Saraland, AL; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Harrison H. Hurt Sr. of Mobile, AL. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Owen, Jim Cantey, Wade Shirley, Butch Stuart, Bobby Sims, Robert Adkins, Scottie Stevens, Roger Wall, Jeff Vance and Terry Ellis. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Windham, Richard Charles, Ken Windham, Timothy Dolbear, James Vance, Phillip J. Causey, Edward Smith, Sonny Evans and the Deacons of First Presbyterian Church. The family requests memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 910 23rd Avenue, Meridian, MS 39301. Family and friends may sign online guestbook at robertbarhamffh.com. Visitation will be held Monday 10:30-12:00 at First Presbyterian Church.
