Hazel Lackey Hicks Funeral services for Hazel Hicks will be held Wednesday, November 4, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home. Hazel Lackey Hicks, 95, passed away peacefully from her life in this world and went to be with Jesus the morning of October 31, 2015, at her home at Aldersgate Retirement Community. Hazel was born on January 1, 1920, in Meridian, Mississippi, to Pat and Ollie Lackey. She retired from Sears Roebuck and was a member of the Eastern Star and the Singing Saints. Hazel loved and lived God's word and enjoyed teaching it. She loved her Lord, her family and friends, and her church, Marion Baptist Church, and she was faithful to all. She was a sweet lady with a beautiful, radiant smile. Hazel's last home was at Aldersgate, where she spent many happy days with friends that she considered family. A special thanks to all at Aldersgate Retirement Community who take such good care of our families. They are truly angels that bless and touch the lives of so many. Two very special angels are Dameka Price and Gail Grady, who loved and cared for my mother in an extra special way. She dearly loved her adopted daughters. "Well done, thy good and faithful servant." She is survived by her daughter, Diane (Bob) Goldsby; grandson, Preston (Jennifer) Goldsby; sister, Bobbye Knight; brother, Melvin Lackey; sisters-in-law, Christine Lackey, Gatha Lackey, and Celia Lackey, as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews and their families in Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Hicks; her parents; sisters, Christine Carlisle, Jewel Roberson, Eloise Engell, Dorothy Peden, and brothers, Pat Jr., George, Sam, and Clarence Lackey. The family requests memorials be made in her honor to Marion First Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 10:00a.m.-11:00a.m. prior to service at the funeral home.
