Helen Watson Kern

Helen Watson Kern, age 80, of Enterprise, MS passed away on March 24, 2020 in her home.

Mrs. Kern was born in Mill Creek, West Virginia on April 13, 1939, daughter of Ralph and Beulah Watson.  She is survived by her son, Jackson “Jack” Kern, Jr. (Vicky), Meridian, Mississippi, her daughter Cynthia “Cindi” McLelland (Guy), her son David Kern (Angela), son Dale “Bo” Kern (Deon) and son Larry Kern.  She was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by six sisters and six brothers.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Jackson “Jack” Kern, Sr., her daughter, Janet Yvonne Kern and brothers Wilbur Watson, William “Billy” Watson, and Delmis Watson.

Mrs. Kern, lovingly known as Granny to all who loved her, was a quietly generous lady who took care of her family, friends, animals and numerous charitable organizations.

She loved to fish, go on cruises, boxing, the Atlanta Braves, NASCAR, Mississippi State Bulldogs, having her family come to visit and her beloved dogs…Zulu and Dakota.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Compassus Hospice of Meridian for their dedication and the gentle care given to “Granny”, and the rest of the family during the last weeks.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
