Servies for Helen M. Lackey will be held Friday, at 10:00 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Mike Russell officiating. Burial will be in Arkadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Ms. Lackey, 84, of Obadiah, died Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at her residence. She was retired from West Lauderdale Attendance Center, as a bus driver. After retiring in 1981, she worked as an accounts payable clerk for Hughes Telephone Company. Ms. Lackey grew up in Paris, TN, and attended Grove High School. She then married George Lackey in 1942, and moved to the Obadiah Community. "Miss Helen", as she was referred to by her students, drove a bus for West Lauderdale School for 21 years, where she received the "Bus Driver of the Year" award. Ms. Lackey was a member of Arkadelphia Baptist Church, where she was active in the children's sunday school program. She received a perfect attendance award for eight years. Survivors include her daughters, Georgia Carol Walker, and her husband, Bob, of Meridian, Pam Frazier, and her husband, Robert, of Bailey, six Grandchildren, and eight Great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, George E. Lackey,her parents Doy, and Eula Hall, of Paris, Tennessee, her sister Inez Enoch, and her brother Everett (Buster) Hall, also of Paris, TN. Pallbearers will be Todd Reid, Will Uithoven, Judd Smith, Cecil Swartzentruber, Spencer Martin, and Ron Harper. Honorary Pallbearers will be Reid Garrett, Luke Graham, Zack Simmons, Hayden Reid, Ashton Smith, and Hunter Martin, and Gavin Vazquez. The family requests memorials be made to Arkadelphia Baptist Church. Visitation will be Thursday, from 5-8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
