Helen Bond Maples Services for Helen Maples will be held Saturday, July 5, 2014, at 10 a.m., in the chapel of Robert Barham Family Funeral Home, with Dr. John Temple officiating. A private burial will be held afterwards with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Maples passed away July 3, 2014, at Anderson's Hospital. She was one of 9 children, born near Saucier, MS. Helen was an athletic standout and prom queen at Mississippi Gulf Coast Junior College in Perkinston, with basketball being her strong suit She was an avid golfer, tennis player and gardener. An active member of PSD Baptist Church for over 50 years, she was also an inspiring Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader. Above all, she was a devoted wife and an amazing mother and grandmother. Survivors include her husband of over 60 years, Dudley Maples; 3 children, Michael Maples of Jackson, MS; Phillip Maples of Meridian, and Deborah Maples of Lexington, KY; their spouses, 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grand children. The family would like to express their appreciation to Carlene Barkley, and the dedicated sitters from PDN who provided care for Helen. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church, Alzheimer's research or a charity of your choice.
