Helen Shelby Reed, age 70, of Toomsuba, Mississippi passed away June 21, 2019 after a courageous fight with cancer. She was surrounded by her adoring family.
Helen was born on March 18, 1949 to Henry and Nell Shelby. She married Virgil Reed at the age of 16. They were married for 54 years and enjoyed working in their garden and spending time with their grandchildren.
Helen and Virgil raised three sons. She loved her boys fiercely and raised them to be the hard working, strong, and loving men they are today.
Helen is survived by her husband, Virgil Reed; sons, Virgil Kevin Reed (Angela), Elton Glen Reed (Leah), Timothy Aaron Reed (Cindy); nine grandchildren, Micah Aaron Reed, Sarah Dudley Reed, Sullivan Glen Reed, Shane Austin Reed, Sadie Elizabeth Reed, Palin Aubry Reed, Jamie Elizabeth Bunyard, Shawn Thomas Myers, and Abigail Elizabeth Myers; sisters, Shirley Hastings, Carol Digiovanni and Christine Townsend; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Nell Shelby; siblings, Peggy Shelby, Lawrence Shelby, and Betty Guzak.
A celebration of Helen’s life will be held at the Robert and Pauline Shelton Community Building at 236 Smith Spur Road, Toomsuba, MS on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 11:00 am.
