Henry Bryant Myatt
Graveside services for Mr. Henry Bryant Myatt will be held Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 12:30 P.M. at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery in Center Hill with Dr. Jon Doler officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 Noon at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home prior to the graveside service. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Mr. Myatt, 88, of Hattiesburg passed away Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Merit Health Wesley in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, surrounded by his loving family.
Bryant was born in Kemper County, Mississippi, on January 1, 1936. He graduated from Mississippi State University in 1958, with a Bachelor of Science in Forestry. He was employed with the Mississippi Forestry Commission as a District Forester for a number of years and finished his career with Georgia-Pacific Corporation at various locations in Mississippi.
Bryant was a member of Forrest/Lamar CFA where he served as treasurer, the Society of American Foresters, and the Mississippi Forestry Association. Since 1996, he was a member of University Baptist Church in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He was raised in the Presbyterian Church as a child and became a Baptist after his marriage. Since that time, Bryant was always a member of the local Baptist Church where he lived, serving in various capacities including deacon, choir director, choir member, chairman of disaster relief committee, and other committee assignments. He served with several community charitable organizations, including the Red Cross Disaster Relief for several years after retirement.
Bryant enjoyed fishing, photography, and music. One of the highlights of his later years was extensive travel with his wife throughout the United States and Canada. Bryant also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Peggy Snowden Myatt; his three daughters, Dianne Myatt; Kathy Myatt (Joe McNeil); and Nikki Myatt Bock (Rob); and honorary son, Per von Beetzen; seven grandchildren, Victoria Parker (Tripp); Rebecca Kuritzkes (James); Anna Wolfe; Tyler Sims (Lillian); Marshall Sims; Brittany Thrash (Doyle); and Hunter Bock; seven great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Jerry Snowden.
Preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lou Ethel Myatt and brother, Bill Myatt.
