Henry Batson Sullivan

A memorial service for Mr. Henry Batson Sullivan will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 11:30 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Bro. Ben Laird officiating. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Mr. Henry "Bat" Sullivan, age 85, of Meridian, passed away on June 17, 2025, at Baptist Anderson Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Bat was born in Sylvarena, MS and graduated from Raleigh High School in 1958. He was introduced to his wife, Peggy, by a close friend and thought she was beautiful. They married and settled in the Tuxedo community where he and his brothers remodeled a small starter home for his new family.

He loved to tinker and was a jack-of-all-trades. Bat worked as a mechanic, truck-driver, and entrepreneur. His loyalty to family was unquestionable and he took great pride in the deep roots his ancestors had in Smith County, Mississippi. He raised his five daughters with gentleness and strength and was delighted when they all married.

Survivors include his daughters, Jeri Akridge (Brian), Jena Sullivan (Lonny), Stacy Palmer (Hap), Cindy Smith (Jon Henry), and Cathy Keller (Patrick); and his sister, Grace James. He was a proud "Papaw" to fifteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Henry was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy; his parents, James and Ivy Sullivan; brothers, Jim, Charlie, and Mack Sullivan; sister, Mary Lambert; and grandson, Jacob Cooper.

A visitation will be held Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:15 AM at the funeral home prior to the service in the chapel.
