Hewey Calvin "Hookey" Massey

Graveside services for Mr. Hewey Calvin "Hookey" Massey will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery, with Reverend Dr. David Hopkins officiating. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Massey, age 91, of Meridian passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2026 at Poplar Springs Nursing Center.

Hookey was born on February 5, 1935 in Lake, MS to the late Willis Golden and Mary Elizabeth Holmes Massey. In 1955, he married the love of his life, Leneal Pettey, and to their union, two children were born. He attended Highland Baptist Church for many years, where he enjoyed serving as a greeter; he always greeted with a smile and was known as "the candy man."

Mr. Massey is survived by his children, Donnie (Charlotte) Massey and Beth (Anthony) Dorman; grandchildren, Ashley (Tripp) Sims, Claire (Justin) Smith, Emily (Daniel) Culpepper, and Madeline (Stephen) Barnett; as well as his great-grandchildren, Linden Barnett, Collin Barnett, Addison Culpepper, Hayden Culpepper, Max Sims, Callie Smith, McKenzie Smith, Graham Smith, and Harrison Smith.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Leneal Pettey Massey and his parents, Willis Golden and Mary Elizabeth Holmes Massey.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Massey be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
