Mrs. Davis, 87, of the Whynot Community, died Thursday, May 28, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized April 1, 1961, and became a member of Bethany Baptist Church. She served for over 60 years at the church and in the community until her health no longer permitted. She loved serving in the kitchen most of all, serving others through food and fellowship.
She graduated from Whynot School in 1958. Following school, she began her life as a wife and mother. She worked at Vanity Fair briefly before starting at Southeast School. She worked and volunteered for 50 plus years touching many lives. She was lovingly known by her school kids as “Mamaw” or “Mama”, where she worked in the cafeteria and drove a bus route.
She was the matriarch and loved her family dearly. If you knew her, you also knew that she would somehow find kin to you; if she didn’t, she would love you anyway. Many of you, she has befriended or mothered. She loved her numerous Southeast School kids, the Gulf Coast Guard Family, going to Mr. Larry’s Picking House, camping, and spending time in her yard with family and friends. Most of all, she loved to “ride the roads”. She would visit family or friends then ride some more. Her favorite saying to whomever was riding shotgun was “Let’s Ride Clyde” which has been passed down to her youngest great- grandson, Brooks.
After meeting at a baseball game at Whynot, Dickie and Hilda Faye began dating, which would lead to a marriage lasting over 68 years. From this marriage, they had four children, and an ever expanding family. Dickie and Hilda Faye have a legacy of love that will last for generations to come. Many families have spent summers at Davis’ pool; and all events throughout the year with food, fun, and fellowship.
Mrs. Davis is survived by her children, Debbie Shirley (Ricky Roy), Donna Davis (William), Rick Davis (Sue); Grandchildren, Robby Workman (Marla), Ellie Davis (Allen), Matt Davis (Stacey), Jennifer May (Scooter), Heather Myatt (Nathan), LeAnn Vick (Todd), Madison Campbell (Eric), John Robert Williamson (Mandi), Hannah Hoy (Jeffrey), Brittany Griesser (Morgan), Kimberly Corn (John), Jesse Ray Davis (Olivia); Great- Grandchildren, Landon Davis, Makenna Workman, Will Moore, Maddox Davis, Trey Williamson, Declan Vick, Madalyn Workman, Anna Catherine Moore, Brannon Williamson, Katie May, Jaden Griesser, Willow Campbell, William Myatt, Layklee Vick, Caroline Hoy, Finn Campbell, Levi May, John Myatt, James Hoy, Daniel Corn, Reagan Griesser, Henrik Griesser, Natalie Corn, Jase Corn, Brooks Davis; her uncles, James Davidson (Jewel) and Robert Earl Davidson (Hilda); as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
