Services for Homer Eaks will be held Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home, with Reverend A.M. Mansfield and Rodney Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Homer, age 89, of Meridian, passed away March 26 surrounded by his family at his granddaughters home in Santa Fe Tennessee.
At age 18, he was among one of the “Greatest Generation” to serve their country in the army in WWII. Homer served in Company “A” 504th military police battalion in Germany. After his military service, he returned to Meridian and worked for Anderson Homes as a Master Carpenter. Homer was known for his intricate finish and trim carpentry. He was a lifelong member of Abundant Life Tabernacle Church in which he helped build and served as secretary treasurer and board member. After the passing of his wife he enjoyed spending time with his family in Tennessee where he cherished every moment and loved having his “little dolls” by his side.
Homer is survived by his daughter Mary Ruth (David) Mason of Columbia TN. His grandson Dr. David LaRon (Wanda) Mason of Friendswood TX and granddaughter Brandi (Justin) Faulkner of Santa Fe TN. He loved and cherished his 5 great granddaughters Hannah, Caroline, Riley Mason, McKinley, and Madalyn Faulkner.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years Mary Esther Eaks. Brothers William and Roy Eaks, and Sister Hazel George.
