AMCS, Howard John Manley, Sr. Services for Howard John Manley, Sr. will be held Friday, March 5, 2010 at 11:00 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with, Reverends Eddie Sirven, Christopher Sirven, Jeremy Sirven and William Hatcher officiating. Burial will be in Lauderdale Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Manley, 64 of Lauderdale, died Monday, March 1, 2010 at his residence. He was retired as Senior Chief Petty Officer after 28 years of service with the U.S. Navy , and was a Vietnam Veteran. He received many medals and commendations during his years of service to his country, including two naval achievement medals, two sea service deployment ribbons, five good conduct awards, meritorious unit commendation, navy unit commendation, national defense service medal, armed forces expeditionary medal, and the Vietnam service medal. After retirement from the U.S. Navy he worked as quality control manager at NAS Meridian. Although he served his country well, his greatest accomplishment in life was being a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He often enjoyed spending time with his family outdoors and many memories have been made with his children and grandchildren around the pond and campfires on the family farm. He had a great appreciation for all of God's creation. He will be missed greatly by his family and his friends. Survivors include his sons Pete Manley of Meridian, Robin Sirven and her husband Eddie of Shreveport, LA; Randy Manley of Meridian, Howard Manley, Jr.of Lauderdale; daughter in law, Kim Agent of Meridian; grandchildren, Parker Manley of Meridian, Jordan Manley of Meridian, Christopher Sirven and his wife Elizabeth of Jasper, AL, Jeremy Sirven of Ruston, LA, Bettye-Grace Sirven of Shreveport, LA, Alex Sirven of Shreveport, LA, Jeffrey Manley, of Meridian, Jacob Manley of Meridian; great-granddaughter, Rosalyn Kate Sirven of Jasper, AL; cousin, Dan Laird of Waldron, AK; brother-in-law, William Hatcher and his wife Faye of Lockhart; niece, Lisa Hatcher; nephew, Greg Hatcher; great niece, Sarah Thompson; great nephew, Mathew Thompson, brother, James Manley. He was preceded in death by his wife of 22 years, Bettye Anne Hatcher Manley, parents, John Manley and Lucy Ann Hawthorne Manley,step-mother, Imogene Manley; sister, Barbara Manley. Pallbearers will be Christopher Sirven, Jeremy Sirven, Jeffrey Manley, David Smith, Dan Laird and Jerry Fox.
