Funeral services for Mr. Howard Douglas "Doug" Wilkerson will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 21, 2025 at Liberty Baptist Church, 6344 Highway 493, DeKalb, MS with Rev. Joshua Drury officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
Mr. Howard Douglas "Doug" Wilkerson, age 74, of Collinsville passed away Monday, March 17, 2025.
Mr. Wilkerson was born May 17, 1950 in Meridian to the late Howard and Myrlene Wilkerson. He was a 1968 graduate of West Lauderdale High School and East Mississippi Community College in 1970. After graduation, Doug enlisted in the United States Air Force. He honorably served numerous tours of duty and retired after 39 years as Chief Master Sergeant from the 186th Air Refueling Wing at Key Field. Raised on his family's farm, Doug enjoyed raising cattle and farming. He was a life-long member of Liberty Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for several decades. He also served on the board of trustees at CrossView Church. Doug was a member and the current president of the Kemper County Farm Bureau, a board member of Lauderdale County Farm Supply, and a devoted member of Gideon's International for many years. Doug volunteered his time and resources at Righteous Oaks Recovery Center in Chunky. Doug was a loving husband, father, and faithful friend to many.
Mr. Wilkerson is survived by his wife, Darlene Wilkerson; his son, Will Wilkerson (Cookie); his step-children, Scott Mathews and Brooks Breland (Kelsey); his grandchildren, Cole Wilkerson, Ava Wilkerson, Cord Wilkerson, Hayden Mathews, Lyla Breland, and Waylon Breland; his brother, Wayne Wilkerson (Sandra); the mother of his children, Vet Wilkerson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Ashley Yvette Wilkerson.
Pall bearers will be Brock Clay, Ryan Clay, Chad Rainer, Bill Wilkerson, Zach Linton, and Tommy Potate. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Clay, T.L. Hightower, Carl Shannon, Carl McNeil, and Mark Keely.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests sharing memorial contributions with Gideon's International.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 until 11:15 a.m. prior to the funeral service at Liberty Baptist Church.
