Dr. Jack Forrest "Doc" Denney Memorial services for Dr. Jack Forrest "Doc" Denney will be held Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, with Reverend Brian Ponder officiating. Dr. Denney, 85, of Meridian, died Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Anderson Regional Medical Center. A native of Kentucky, "Doc" graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in Biology and from Auburn University with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. He began practicing Veterinary Medicine in Meridian in 1957, and founded the Meridian Order Buyers Company in the 1960s. As a veteran of the U.S. Army, "Doc" servedin World War II, as well as completing two tours in the Korean Conflict where he was awarded the Bronze Medal of Honor and the Korean Medal of Commemoration. An avid parishioner of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, "Doc" was a two term member of the Vestry. He was a member of the Hummingbird Investment Club and was very active in numerous civic organizations in Meridian. "Doc" Denney will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, cattle broker, and friend. Survivors include his wife Linda M. Denney of Meridian; sons, Forrest Denney and his wife Andrea of Atlanta, Darrell Denney and Janna Denney of Meridian, Mark Denney and his wife Angie of Marion; daughter, Lisa Easterwood and her husband Tim of Collinsville; grandchildren, Derek Denney, Lance Price, Hope Denney, Banks Denney and Becca Denney; and caregivers Beatrice and Johnny Jimison, special friends of the family. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Drew Denney.
