Funeral services for Jackie Bates Slay will be held Friday, February 17, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home, with Reverend Mike Russell and Dr. Dan Lanier officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Slay, age 72, of Meridian passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017.

Jackie was born in Bessemer, Alabama. She lived most of her life in Meridian, Mississippi. Jackie graduated from Meridian High School in 1962. She was a faithful member of Oak Hill Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Ronnie Slay, of Meridian; son, Greg Slay, his children, Garrett and Patrick, their mother, Sondra Slay; son, Phillip and Amanda Slay, their children, Taylor and Tyler, all of Collinsville, Mississippi; brother, Harry Bates (Kay) of Philadelphia, Mississippi; brother-in-law, Jerry McCay of Meridian; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Eudora Bates; her brother, Thomas Edwin Bates, and sister, Margaret B. McCay.

Special thank you to Anderson Regional Medical Center, 4th floor nursing staff, Dr. Matthew Cassell and Dr. Bill Reid, and the Sta-Home Hospice staff.

The family requests memorials be made to East Central Mississippi Fellowship of Christian Athletes, P.O. Box 162, Enterprise, MS. 39330.

Pallbearers will be David Jones, Sam Roy, Bobby Green, Kevin Glasgow, Richard Green, and Douglas Davis.
