Jackson E. "Gene" Joyner Services for Jackson E. "Gene" Joyner will be held Monday, January 4, 2010 at 10:00 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverends Gary Black and Carl White officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery, Jackson, MS, at 3:00 with Reverend John Martin officiating, with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Joyner, 80, of Meridian, died January 1, 2010 at his residence. He was born in Meridian, MS. Mr. Joyner worked for DeSoto Furniture Company in Jackson, MS for 35 years. While living in Jackson he was an active member of Van Winkle Baptist Church. Since moving to Meridian, Mr. Joyner was a member of Highland Baptist Church. He served as deacon for both churches. He was a gifted woodworker and one of his prized creations was a scale model of Jerusalem Temple. Mr. Joyner was a quiet man with deep faith who enjoyed his family, friends, and life. Survivors include his wife, Ann Murray Joyner of Meridan, daughters, Pam J. Black and her husband, Gary of Nesbit, MS, Becky J. Swann and her husband Tim of Clinton, MS, grandchildren, Erin Thomason and her husband, Jay, Adam Black, Austin Black and his wife Lynsey, Brad Swann, Kirby Swann and Kelsi Swann, great-grandchildren, Caleb and David Thomason, Daniel Thomason, due to arrive January 10, 2010, sister, Inez J. Hines of Brooksville, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lavelle and Gladys McAdory Joyner, brother, Alton P. Joyner, first wife and mother of his children, Marlene J. Joyner.
