Memorial services for Mr. Jacob “Jack” Moorman will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home, with Bro. Davey Wilkinson officiating. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Jacob Albert “Jack” Moorman died January 6, 2018 at the Veteran’s Home in Oxford, MS after a long fight with COPD and two bouts of Cancer. He will join his wife, Carol, and be free of pain and suffering.

Jack was a 100% connected Korean Veteran, serving in WWII and Korea. He was the son of Jacob A. Moorman and Bessie Ratcliff Moorman of Lauderdale, MS.

He was a lifetime professional walking horse trainer and judge of walking horse shows. In 1949, he along with three other trainers, formed the National Walking Horse Trainers Association, serving as Vice President and President. He was inducted into the Mississippi Walking Horse Hall of Fame in 1989. His favorite horse was “Living Legend,” which he recently wrote a book about.

Survivors include his step-son, Mike (Poky) Murphy of Meridian, MS; grandchildren, Erin Murphy (John) Cromeans and Todd Murphy; great-grandchildren, Leah Copeland Cromeans and John “Jack” William Cromeans IV. Sister-in-law, Beverly Peacock (John); Brother-in-law, Harold Knowlton (Audrey). Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to your favorite personal charity.

Comfort always seems to come from our children. Leah Copeland and Jack’s response to Papaw is now in heaven, they sweetly replied, “He will come back when he is healed.” “So it will be with the resurrection of the dead, it is raised imperishable….raised in glory.” 1 Cor 15.

Yes, Jack is healed now.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2018 from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
