Funeral services for James Paul Chiasson will be held Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Rest Haven Garden of Memories in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Chiasson, age 48, of Dalewood, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2015. Petty Officer Second Class Chiasson was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on January 14, 1967. In September 2001 he joined the Navy and attended the Recruit Training Command (RTC) in Great Lakes, Illinois. Upon his graduation from RTC, he was an undesignated Fireman Apprentice stationed aboard FFG 28 Boone in Mayport, FL. After completing his duty with FFG 28 Boone, he reported to Norfolk, VA to complete his training for Master at Arms in March 2003. In May 2003, MA2 Chiasson reported to NAS Meridian. He was deployed to Guantanamo Bay first, and then served a tour in Manama, Bahrain finishing his active duty contract. In December 2007, MA2 affiliated with the Navy Reserves where he had been a drilling Reservist stationed aboard Navy Operational Support Center Meridian, attached to NAS Meridian's Naval Security Forces. He was then reactivated from reserve status to active duty for a second tour in Guantanamo Bay. Petty Officer Chiasson had many interest including fishing, boating, grilling, watching LSU and the Saints play football, but most importantly, his largest interest was his family. Survivors include his wife, Lori Oswalt Chiasson; daughters, Courtney Elizabeth Chiasson, Gabriella Jordan Chiasson, Jamie-Lynn Miller, and Martha Marie Blackston; sons, Walter James Ledesma, Jr., Destin Tinsley, Brandon Tinsley, and Charles Bradshaw, Jr.; granddaughter, Kendall Marie Mathews; unborn grandchild due April 10, 2016; sister, Susan Guillory; and ex-wives, Jaynene Chiasson, of 18 years, and Laura Davidson, of five years, as well as his "future ex-son-in-law", James Miller. He was preceded in death by his father, Gillis John "Geeboo" Chiasson; mother, Lillie May Guillory; brother, Junius John "Johnny" Chiasson, II; and sister, Frances Marie Chiasson Paine.
