James Douglas Reed Services for James Douglas Reed will be held Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Cuba Baptist Church in Cuba, Alabama with Reverend Mike McKee and Reverend Albert McMullen officiating. Burial will be at Clay Memorial Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Reed, age 71, of the Russell Community, died Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at his home. He was a member of Cuba Baptist Church in Cuba, AL. He was retired from Dixie Oil Company in Meridian and served as a firefighter with the Russell Volunteer Fire Department for 38 years. For 25 years he served the Russell Community as Fire Chief. He spent much of his retirement rocking on his front porch spending precious time with family and traveling with his "Golden Friends" from Cuba Baptist Church. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Joyce Westbrook Reed; daughter, Missy Cook and husband, T.R. of Clarkdale; daughter, Jan Smith and husband, Darren of Kewanee; daughter, Kim Burton and husband, David of Union; grandchildren, Eric Irby, Emma Burton, Jake Smith, Lilly Burton, Ryan Smith, Ashley Cook Webb and husband, Josh, Adam Cook and wife, Jana, and Avery Webb; brother, Ladeen Reed of Houston, TX; sister, Anita Davis of Denham Springs, LA; mother-in-law and father-in-law J.C. and Clora Westbrook and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, W.B. and Ethel Lee Reed; sister, Joan Chambers; brothers, Boney Lee Reed, Jerry Reed, and Don Reed.
