James R. Flanagan Services for James R. Flanagan will be held Monday, February 21, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Wayne Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Flanagan, 86, of Meridian died Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Rush Hospital. He was in the U. S. Army and served in France and The Battle of the Bulge. He earned a Purple Heart and many other prestigious medals during his military service. Mr. Flanagan was a faithful member of Midway Baptist Church. Survivors include his daughter Carolyn Combs husband Howard of Meridian, a son James H. Flanagan wife Cherry of Collinsville, grandchildren Sandra Rutherford, Candace Upchurch husband Larry, Brandie Haguewood husband Chuck, Jenifer Flanagan and Jaycee Butler husband Eric, and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Doris Flanagan, parents Clifton and Velma Perkins Flanagan and an infant son Larry E. Flanagan.
