Private graveside services for Mr. James F. Jones will be held at Old Marion Cemetery with Bro. Steve Taylor and Bro. Jack Kern officiating.  Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. James F. Jones, age 95, was born March 25, 1925 in Pickens County, Alabama.  He passed away April 7, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.

Mr. Jones is survived by his children, Jeanette Swain (Bill) of Meridian, James A. “Sonny” Johnson (Nancy) of Birmingham, Alabama, Ann Gates (Gerald) of Carrollton, Alabama, Nan Elliott of Reform, Alabama, James H. “Bubba” Jones (Donna) of Laurel, Mississippi, Bobby Jones of Meridian, Diane Cowart (Billy) of McShan, Alabama; eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by his brothers, Owen Jones and Roy Newton Jones; one sister, Sarah Allen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Columbus Edward and Edna Jones; his first wife, Nell Duncan Jones of eleven years; his second wife, Faye Taylor Jones of fifty nine years; sisters, Maude Mae Lowes, Mattie Lowes, Lila Hooper, Mary Edna Shaver, and Eva Mae Harris; brothers, David Jones, E.C. Jones, J.R. Jones, Elroy Jones, and Eddie Jones; a granddaughter, Jennifer Cowart; a son-in-law, Tommy Elliott; and a grandson-in-law, John Howland.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the European Front and was a part of the D-Day invasion.  He went to work for Mississippi Power Company in 1950 in Meridian and retired after thirty-four years of loyal service.  He was an avid farmer at his home in Russell where he loved to share his fruits, vegetables, and pecans with friends and family.  He was very active in the Masonic Lodge where he held many positions.  He was a deacon and very active in Russell Baptist Church, teaching Sunday school for many years.  He loved serving his Lord and his church family.  He was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to all that knew him.
