James R. Gleaves, MD Services for James R. Gleaves, MD will be held Friday, July 26, 2013 at 3:00 PM at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with The Reverend Vicki Gladding and Brother Dennis Duvall officiating. Graveside service and burial will be Sunday, July 28, 2013 at 3:00 PM at Memory Gardens of Fairhope with The Reverend Mark Wilson officiating. Dr. Gleaves, 69, of Meridian, MS, died Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Rush Foundation Hospital. Dr. Gleaves was born in Buffalo, NY, in 1944, and was a long time native of Daphne, AL. He graduated Fairhope High School 1962. He went on to receive a B.S. in chemistry from University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL in 1966, and earned his Medical Degree from University of Alabama Birmingham Medical Center in 1970. He served a one year internship, followed by a four year surgical residency at Lloyd Nolan Hospital, Birmingham, AL. He served in the Alabama Army National Guard served in the 109th Evacuation Hospital Unit where he received the rank of Major. This military service was during the Vietnam era. He was named to Staff at Rush Medical Group, Meridian MS, for the practice of General Surgery in 1976, where he practiced general surgery and was the Director of The Hyperbaric Wound Center. He received numerous awards during his thirty-seven years of practice. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Linda Hall Gleaves from Fairhope, AL; brother, The Reverend Glen L. (The Reverend Donna) Gleaves of Livingston, MT; sister in law, Joyce (Gene, Sr., deceased) Gleaves of Spanish Fort, AL; brother in law, Philip (Polly) Hall of Titusville, FL; nieces and nephews, Melanie (Greg) Morrett Lancaster, KY; Lea (Bill) Dickerson of Hattiesburg, MS; Donna (Kelly) Freeman of Daphne, AL; Gene (Christina) Gleaves, Jr. of Daphne, AL; Katie Gleaves of Salt Lake City, UT; Philip Hall, Jr., John (Paula) Hall, and Mark ( Angie) Hall all of North Little Rock, AR, Dawn (Dennis)Jones of Twisp, WA; Jim Hall of Anchorage, AK; lifelong friends, Dr. Jimmy (Elaine) Isbell, Robert (Jan) Templin of Jacksonville, AL and Terry Dobson of Fairhope, AL. The family wishes to thank everyone at Rush Health Systems for all their kind loving care and support. The family requests memorials to be in memory of Dr. Gleaves to a charity of your choice.
