James Luther Green, Jr.

A graveside service for James "Jim" Luther Green, Jr. will be held Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. at Pine Grove Church with Dr. Tommy Meador officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Mr. James "Jim" Luther Green, Jr., age 88, of Metairie, Louisiana passed away May 15, 2024 peacefully at home with his family.

James earned his bachelor's degree from Southern Arkansas University and went on to complete his master's degree at the University of Texas. For over six decades, he called the Greater New Orleans area home, dedicating forty years of his career to the Food and Drug Administration. It was at First Baptist of New Orleans where James crossed paths with Lugene, his beloved wife, and they married on July 10, 1971. Together, they nurtured a family, raising their two children, James III and Staci. James poured his heart into his role as a husband and father, and he delighted in his role as a grandfather to his two grandsons, Luke and Hudson.

James was a passionate outdoorsman who dedicated much of his youth to hunting and fishing. Alongside this pursuit, he had a keen eye for collecting various items. His weekends often found him scouring local pawn shops and attending gun shows, seeking out hidden treasures. However, amidst his hobbies, his most cherished treasure was his family.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Joyce Lugene Green; children, James Luther Green, III (Holly), Staci Green Meador (Tommy); grandsons, Luke and Hudson Meador; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

Mr. Green was preceded in death by his parents, James Luther Green, Sr. and Olive Kezee Green; and his brother, Garry Kezee Green.

Memorial contributions may be shared with Louisiana Baptist Children's Home in Monroe, Louisiana.
