James A. "Jim" Darnell, Sr. Services for James A. "Jim" Darnell, Sr. will be held Saturday, September 1, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Bob Rambo and Jim Wall officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Darnell, 89, of Hickory died Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at Anderson Regional Medical Center. Mr. Darnell was a retired agent from Farm Bureau Insurance Company. He served in the United States Army and was a veteran of World War II. Survivors include his daughter Dorothy Dickens of Hickory, Mississippi; sons James A. Darnell, Jr. and wife Kathy of Indianapolis, Indiana, Lynn Reeves and wife Gina of Helena, Alabama, Larry Reeves and wife Sallie of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Harold Reeves and wife Sonia of Houston, Texas; fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Myrtle Darnell; son-in-law Tim Dickens; parents Lucy Bruce and Fletcher Darnell; sister Frances Davis, and brothers Bill Mayerhoff, Ed Mayerhoff and Bruce Hardee. Pallbearers will be grandsons Corey, Stephen and Randy Reeves, Christopher Ayers, Zachary Darnell, Logan Reeves and Dylan Reeves.
