Services for Jim Palmer will be held Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home, with Brother Mike Boles officiating. Burial will follow at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton.

Mr. Palmer, age 73, of Meridian, passed away March 12 at Regency Hospital.

James served his country honorably as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps, having served in Vietnam. He worked as a retail manager for Osco Drugs for twenty-two years in the Chicagoland Suburbs. After moving to Meridian, he worked for Office Max. James also worked at The Country Store on NAS Meridian and was a member of American Legion Post #257.

James is survived by his wife of fifty years, Lexa Palmer; children, Brad Palmer, Amy (Mark) Bates, and Jon Palmer; grandchildren, Emily and Carter Bates; brothers, Danny Palmer and Joe Palmer and brothers-in-law, TC Glover and Wayne Herrington; and father-in-law, Joe W. Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Mary Palmer, and his sister, Cynthia “Toni” Glover.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 14, 2017 from 5:00p.m.-7:00p.m. at the funeral home.
