James Karl Evans

Graveside Services for Mr. James Karl Evans will begin at 1:00pm Friday, June 5, 2020 at Mont Rose Baptist Church Cemetery in Quitman, MS, with Reverend Charles Albrooks officiating. Interment will follow graveside rites. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Evans, 80, of the Mont Rose Community passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at University of Alabama-Birmingham Hospital.

Mr. James is survived by his wife of over 61 years, Betty Evans; children, Mary Ellen Moore (Robert), Deborah Elaine Evans, and Marcia Ann Nicholson; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert “Bo” Evans of Shubuta, MS, and Alfred Evans of Melbourne, FL; sisters, Wilma Martin of Elizabethton, TN, Joye Combest, Toye Smith, Frances Wilemon, Diane Wright, and Linda Turner of Quitman, MS; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Mr. Evans is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Virgie Evans; sisters, Mary Joe Knapp, Virgie Lee Tillman; brother, Edgar Lamar “Sonny” Evans.

The family requests memorials be made as donations to Batson Children’s Hospital: 2500 North State Street, Jackson, MS 39216 in lieu of flowers.

Pallbearers will be Scotty Hutto, Trevor Nicholson, Jackob Nicholson, Tommy Peen, Joey Jenkins, and Timothy Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Johnson, and Mitchell Dearman.
