Funeral services for Mr. James Alfred "Tudor" King will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2025 at Springhill Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Raley and Rev. George Warner officiating. Interment will follow graveside rites at Springhill Methodist Church Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
Mr. James Alfred "Tudor" King, age 80, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2024 at his home.
James grew up in the Springhill community and attended Clarkdale schools, where he enjoyed playing basketball. He was in the glass business for many years but found his trade in the overhead door service. He was the owner of overhead door businesses in Meridian and Hattiesburg until his retirement. A master carpenter and avid gardener, Mr. King was a man of many talents. He enjoyed fishing and some of his children's fondest memories are of their fishing trips together. He was known as "Tudor" to some of his closest friends and family, a nickname he received from his momma.
Mr. King is survived by his children, Scarlett Stevens of Meridian, Carla Walton and Steve of DeKalb, and George King and Donna of Bowling Green, Kentucky; his grandchildren, Krystal King, James King, Amanda Nichols, Jacob King, Joshua King, Justin King, Ashley Upton, John Cumberland, Mamie Jenkins, Kala Pitts, Casey McCoy, Caleb McCoy, and Paul Dee McCoy; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Mr. King was especially close to Jamie Lou Upton, his "heart."
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara King; his parents, George William and Willer Louise King; his sister, Gladys Booker; his brothers, Alvin King, Roy King, Billy King, Earl King, Walter King; his grandson, Peyton King; and his granddaughter Abigail Upton.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Ross, Troy Smith, Steve Walton, Clifton Pitts, Hal Thompson, and Ross Cullum.
Memorial contributions may be shared with Springhill Methodist Church, 6614 Zero Road, Meridian, MS 39301.
The family will receive friends Thursday, January 2 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and again Friday, January 3 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home. There will be a brief visitation prior to the funeral service at Springhill Methodist Church.
