Funeral services for James L. Robinson will be held Saturday March 4th at 3:30 pm at Center Grove Baptist Church. Services will be presided over by reverends Richard Wallace and Jimmy Culpepper.  Burial will follow at the Center Grove Cemetery.

James L. Robinson, age 83, of Meridian passed away Monday, February 27th, at Anderson Regional Hospital.

James attended Whynot High School. As a teenager, James worked in the cotton fields. Later, James worked at Brookshire’s Ice Cream Company where he assisted in making ice cream for two years. For the next sixteen years, he worked at Burnley Shirt Factory, where he spread cloth and laid out designs for shirts. During his time at Burnley, James met the love of his life: Notie Mae Scarbrough. James and Notie married on April 15, 1954, and spent the next sixty-two years together. They had a total of five children: three sons and two daughters. James was a man who found joy in the simple things, such as hunting and farming and taught his sons his trade. James and Notie were members of Center Grove Baptist Church, and took the time to teach their children the love of Christ.

James was preceded in death by his son James Jr., wife Notie, two brothers Billy and Jimmy Robinson, sister Willie Mae Pogue, and parents Elmer and Annie Robinson.

Survivors include four children: Mike Robinson (Robin), Debbie Robertson (Kenneth), Kathy Jenkins (Jerry), and Jerry Robinson (April); twelve grandchildren: James Michael, Daniel, David, and Jacob Robinson, Kimberly Stegall, Shanna and Christian Robertson, Benjamin and Lauren Jenkins, Pamela Cherry, Darcy and Jerrison Robinson; and six great-grandchildren: Jaci Poncho, Hayden and Jett Robinson, Coraline Stegall, Tyler Boykin and Matthew Jenkins.

Pallbearers will be: Daniel, David, Jacob, and James Michael Robinson, Christian Robertson, and Benjamin Jenkins. The honorary pallbearer will be Thomas Cherry.

Visitation for James Robinson will be held at Barham Family Funeral Home in Meridian, MS on Thursday March 2, 2017 from  5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, and one hour prior to service on Saturday at the church.
