James Lawson

Mr. James Lawson, 65, of Meridian, MS, passed away, Monday October 20, 2025, at his home.

James loved to cook for his family and earned the name Chef BoyOUR-Dad. He enjoyed taking care of his flowers and trees and passed on his expertise of landscaping to his children. He was a loving grandfather and was affectionately named Pee-Paw and Grandpa by his grandkids. James was a poet and practical joker. He loved spending time in Jehovah's Word and could quote any scripture, citing it on the spot.

James was heartbroken after the loss of his beloved wife of fifty years, My "Bickie Annie", and he even wrote her a love letter, "My beautiful Vickie was always in my arms right where she belongs and we were always in love sometimes it felt like a song through all the journeys of our life together. No one ever believed in me like she did, oh my sweet baby if I could write a love song it would about you will always be my sunshine even in the darkest moments forever my love".

He is survived by his children; Jenny Donald, Jason Lawson, Jamie Lawson, Janika Lawson, Jasmine Lawson, his grandchildren; Destiny Donald, Devin Donald, Caleb Horne, Sarah Barker, Christian Lawson, Nathan Peebles, Natalee Peebles, Noah Peebles, Abigail Lawson, Blaize, Kye, Mylah, Jasiah, and Jaylyn Lloyd is on the way, two great grandsons; Kohen and Kollin, his sisters; Sherri Cox, Leitha Hardwick, and Lynn Yim.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vickie Lawson, his father, Wally Lawson, his mother Janice Furman, his brothers; Walter Leon Lawson and George Raymond III, his sisters; Ada Gable and Sandy Lawson.
