James Kenneth "Ken" Merrell, Jr. Funeral services for James Kenneth "Ken" Merrell, Jr. will be held Monday, August 17, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jim Rickles officiating. Burial will be at the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Merrell, age 81, of Meridian, passed away Friday, August 14, 2015 at Rush Foundation Hospital. Ken was a retired Master Sergeant with the United States Air Force and also retired from the United States Postal Service. He was a member and Deacon at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church where he loved the children and gave out lollipops to them. He will be remembered as a very loving husband, father, and grandfather. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Jeanette Merrell; son, Kenneth Merrell; daughters, Kathy Tibbetts (Terry) and Lynn Thomas (Paul); grandchildren, Chris Tibbetts (Casey), Kara Tibbetts (fiance' Dusty Jones), and Danielle Love (Nick); great-grandchildren, Ryder Tibbetts, Mabry Tibbetts, Kelsey Tibbetts, Parker Jones, and Nathan Love; brother, Gary Merrell (Sydney); sister, Sandra Peninger (Jerry); and several nieces and nephews.
