James Edward Slayton Services for James Edward Slayton will be held Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Roy Dabbs officiating. Burial will be in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Slayton, age 80, of Meridian, died Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was the owner of Slayton Heating and Air Conditioning and was retired Air Force. He also served in the Air National Guard Reserve. He was a member of the VFW Post 79 where he served as Post Commander and State Commander. Mr. Slayton served as a constable for 12 years and was a member of the Police Auxiliary. Survivors include daughters, Darlene Gay and husband, Andy of Lake, MS, and Vicki Kurszewski and husband, Jim of Meridian, MS; grandchildren, Sacheen Morgan and husband, Billy, Tonya Monts and husband, Mike, Wesley Stewart and wife Karissa, Misty Lloyd and husband, Scott, Nicole Williams, Rachel Brown and husband, Richard, Lance Robinson and wife, Tiffany, Lindsey Earle and husband, Brian, Jake Kurszewski and wife, Kristin, and Lauren Kurszewski; twenty great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and faithful pet companion, Nicole. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Slayton; parents, William and Annie Slayton; five sisters; three brothers; and one grandson, James Michael Stewart, Jr. The family would like to thank the staff of Golden Living Nursing Center and Anderson Regional's Second Floor West for all of their love and care given to him in his time of illness. Pallbearers will be Lance Robinson, Wesley Stewart, Caleb McCall, Richard Brown, Mike Monts, and Billy Morgan. Honorary pallbearers will be Leroy Marsh, Forrest Moulds, J.W.
