James M. Smiley, Jr. Funeral services for James M. Smiley, Jr. will be Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home, with Reverends Richard Wallace, Roy Dabbs and Tommy Jones officiating. Burial will be at Jones Chapel Church of God. Mr. Smiley, 89 years old, of Meridian, died Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Baptist Medical Center Attala in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Mr. Smiley was a graduate of Mississippi State University. He was a veteran of WWII and served in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Helen E. Smiley, daughter, Sandra Dabbs, (Roy), son, James M. Smiley, III, stepson, James M. Moore (Ann), 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James M. Smiley, Sr., brother, Lea Smiley, sister, Martha May and his first wife, Frances Bass Smiley. Pallbearers will be, Danny Brown, Allen Carr, Drew Dabbs, Tim Rutledge, Algie Davis, and Billy Price. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of David Sunday School Class. Family requests memorials be made to your favorite charity. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 22, 2015 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
