James R. Smith "Smitty"

The graveside service for Mr. James R. Smith ( Smitty ) will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 10: 00am at Long Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Donald Turner officiating. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. James R Smith, age 83, of Meridian passed away Friday, August 31, 2018 at Rush Specialty Hospital.

Smitty was born in Smethport, Pennsylvania on November 24, 1934. Mr. Smith joined the United States Navy at an early age and served until his retirement in 1971. He later worked in Public Works for the City of Meridian and Davidson Hauling.

Mr. Smith is survived by his daughters, Brenda Thomas (Jimmy), Vera Napp (Danny), and Debbie Holloway (Skip); several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother; and a host of nieces and nephews. Smitty will be missed by his Spaceway Truck-Stop family and a very special friend, Tim Moore.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Alva Smith; his parents, Robert and Marion Smith; a brother and a sister-in-law.
