Funeral services for Mr. Jamie L Hornsby will begin at 11:00 am Friday, November 9, 2018 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6300 HWY 39N . Meridian, MS 39305. Interment will follow at 1:00 pm at The MS Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Hornsby , 83, of Meridian, passed away November 1, 2018 at his residence.

Mr. Jamie was an avid fisherman and enjoyed being with his friends and family. He was a proponent of his community. He was a sports enthusiast and loved all kinds of cars (especially his white truck). He loved his family and especially his grandchildren who affectionately called him “Granddaddy”. Mr. Hornsby was a joy to be around and loved dancing and being around family at any possible chance.

Mr. Hornsby is survived by his wife of 63 years, Irene Hornsby ; children, Jack Hornsby , Rick Hornsby (Darlene), Peggy Hornsby , Kenneth Hornsby (Elizabeth Pringle-Hornsby ), Sandra Hornsby-Palmer (John), Pamela Ward and Sondra Johnson. Grandchildren, Nina, Shonda , David, Ricky Diablo, Jack Jr., Janice, Danielle, Sharefea, Patty, Kalissa, Christopher, Nichole, Jamie, Ametria, Shondarius, Wesley, Shakara, Nicholas, Paige, and Avery; as well as numerous great, and great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and extended family. He is also survived by brother, Clifton Hornsby (Linda).

Mr. Jamie is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, three sisters, one son, Jamie Hornsby , Jr. and one paternal grandmother, Mae Ella Taylor.

The family requests memorials be made to the Navy Relief Fund or to the UAW in lieu of flowers.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:00 Thursday, November 8, 2018 at the funeral home.
