Funeral services for Mrs. Janie Merle Poole will begin at 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Northcrest Baptist Church with Dr. Wade Phillips and Dr. Dan Lanier officiating. Interment will follow graveside rites at Pine Forest Baptist Church Cemetery in Collinsville, MS. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Mrs. Poole, 90, of Collinsville, died Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Ochsner Rush Medical Center in Meridian.
Mrs. Janie Merle was graduated from Centerhill High School and Mississippi College where she received her BA in Education. She went on to receive her MA in Education from UWA in Livingston, AL. She taught 3rd Grade for the majority of her career and retired from West Lauderdale Elementary School after a career spanning over 35 years. She loved to keep her mind active and enjoyed completing many jigsaw puzzles through the years. She was a member of Northcrest Baptist Church, where she faithfully attended as long as her health permitted. Her family was her life and she loved serving in her roles as a Mother and Mamaw to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her spare time, she loved gardening and tending to her flowers, especially her roses; and she also faithfully read her Bible daily with her morning coffee.
Mrs. Janie Merle is survived by her children, Clay Poole (Janet), John Mark Poole (Robbie), Dane Poole (Tina), and Veonne Howell (Tim); grandchildren, Ben Poole (Cindy), Andy Poole (Carrie), Shane Poole, Justin Poole, Josh Poole, Jacob Poole (Morgan), Jarret Poole, Jessica Smith (Roger), Kyra Howell, and Noelle Howell, as well as a host of great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law Maxine Sharp and Gerry Davis; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Mrs. Poole is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Clayton Poole, Sr.; and her parents, James Wesley "Bobo" and Gertrude "Mamaw" White.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
The Poole Family suggests memorials be made as donations to Northcrest Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.
